Mohamed Zaidi: my testimony is to remind of the truths of the past so that justice prevail

Mohamed Za•di said in Figuig Saturday the goal of his testimony about the sufferings of his family in the wake of his father abduction is to "remind of the truths of the past so that justice prevail."
Zaidi told the public hearing on past human rights violations, instigated by the Moroccan commission in charge of shedding light on the violations, the members of his family tremendously suffered from the death in prison of their father, Brahim Zaidi.
He said the sufferings of his family were shared by the inhabitants of Figuig, adding the violation of civic, political and economic rights during that period caused good and subsistence losses.
Zaidi went on to say his family living conditions, especially after his father left to Algeria in the wake of the 1973 events, were dire and forced them to live in isolation. He told of the intrusions into family privacy and the impact of terror on his mother and later on the family was informed the father was in prison in Rabat after he was kidnapped in Algeria and transferred to Morocco. Zaidi said he saw his father only once after an exchange of letters.
