An International conference on terrorism in Riyadh on Saturday

A statement by the Saudi government said recently that an international conference on terrorism fighting will be held in Riyadh on February 5 through 8 with the participation of representatives for more than 50 Arab, Muslim and foreign countries in addition to representatives for international, regional and Arab organizations.

The conference aims at shedding light on concepts of terrorism and its reasons and the historical, intellectual and cultural feed of its roots in societies and showing the links between terrorism on the one hand and money laundering and smuggling of weapons and drugs, on the other.

Countries taking part in the conference are Saudi Arabia, the hosting country, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman as well as Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkey, Japan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Kazakhstan and Singapore.

The conference will be also attended by Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Britain, France, Italy, Greece, Russia, Germany, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Ukraine, Denmark, the USA, Argentine, Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua, Canada and Australia.

International, regional and Arab organizations taking part in the conference are the UN, the Islamic Organization Conference, the Arab league, the Gulf Cooperation council, the Arab world league, the Non-aligned movement, the European Union, the African Union and the financial section of the " Interpol" and the International Monaco summit on crime.

Worthy mentioning that Saudi Arabia has faced since May 2003 a wave of atacks that resulted in killing more than 100 persons and hundreds for which al-Qaida organization in Saudi Arabia claimed responsibility.
