Four Iraqi prisoners killed, U.S. on the downing of British plane

One American official announced on Monday evening that the British transport plane which crashed in Iraq on Sunday might be have been exposed to fire from ground, according to preliminary indications.

The official who asked to be anonymous said that "there are some indicators on opening fire from the ground." The British defense ministry said that no information is available on reasons behind the downing of a royal air force C-130 plane.

On the other hand, the American army announced in a statement that four prisoners were killed and other 6 injured in clashes that took place in Buka American prison in the south of Iraq.

The statement said that the acts of riots erupted after a routine inspection operation. It added "the clashes spread immediately" when the prisoners started to throw stones and objects. It explained that guards of the camp and after they had tried to stop the clashes by warning and using non-deadly weapons, opened fire to end the clashes.

Worthy mentioning that there are 7,000 Iraqi prisoners held by the American forces including 4700 in Buka camp near Um al-Qaser port and 2300 in Abu Ghreib jail to the west of Baghdad.
