Egyptian exports go up to LE 38.8 billion from January to October 2004

A report published yesterday by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) shows that Egyptian exports and imports increased by 30.6 per cent and 25.7 per cent respectively between January and October 2004.

The report showed that exports had gone up from LE 29.7 billion to LE 38.8 billion. Meantime, imports increased, over the period review, from LE 50.5 billion to LE 63.5 billion.

The report says that exports of crude oil, cotton, clothes, textiles, rice, aluminum, iron and steel all increased, while exports of books, fertilizers, other oils and coal fell.

The report also specifies that imports of petroleum, wheat and wood increased, while imports of medicines, corn, tobacco, seeds and calculators all fell.
