Morocco, Politics, 1/29/2005

Renowned French singer, Enrico Macias said King Mohammed VI of Morocco continues, like the great sultans of Morocco, to perpetuate the tradition of tolerance and peace, both within his country and all over the world."

"Tolerance, the respect and commitment to peace are sacred values for the King," Macias told on Thursday the Moroccan radio RTM, adding he knows the value of the great sultans of Morocco and that the Late King Mohammed V was very veneered in the world for his tolerance to weak communities.

The UN ambassador-at-large, in charge of peace missions, also stressed the big contributions of the late King Hassan II to the peace process in the middle East.

The 66-year-old singer performed Thursday night in Casablanca saying he was "happy to sing for the Moroccan public, for I regard Morocco as my country."
