Russian spokesman and Syria's role

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said Friday that Syria has been playing an important role in the Middle East, stressing the importance of resuming peace negotiations on both Syrian and Lebanese tracks in order to reach the just and comprehensive peace.
"Russia hails resuming negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians and calls for resuming the negotiations on all tracks" Yakovenko said in a statement on Friday.
