Israeli to release 900 Palestinian detainees

In an attempt showing the good intention, the Israeli government initially approved to release of some 900 Palestinian prisoners, shortly.
A high ranking Palestinian official said in statements after his participation in talks with the advisor for the Israeli prime minister on Thursday that the release of the detainees is just the first phase. He expected the release will be very soon.
On the other side, a well informed Israeli source said that talks were held to this effect but denied that a final agreement has been reached. He said that the issue of the detainees will be discussed basically in the meeting between Sharon and the chairman of the Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas after two weeks.
