EU allocates 1 million euro to Moroccan HM associations
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 1/27/2005

The European Union launched, in Rabat Wednesday, a one million program destined to fund micro projects of Moroccan NGO operating in human rights, announced the Union's delegation.

The program, titled "European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)," was created at the European Parliament's initiative in 1994 to promote and support democracy and human rights, said the delegation at a meeting that brought together the concerned associations.

EIDHR will finance in 2005 projects submitted by the civil society, whose action is intended to promote education to citizenship and governance, women's rights promotion, the reinforcement of institutional capacities and the promotion of pluralism.

EU commits to fund 50pc of the total budget of these projects in a 15,000 to 100,000 Euro range.
