More Iraqis killed, injured

Scores of Iraqis were killed or injured on Wednesday in attacks targeting the election centers and the police forces. Seven Iraqis were killed -- three police force members, two soldiers and two civilians -- in the explosion of three booby trapped cars to the southern west of Karkouk. The first targeted a police center, the second a market in Riyadh quarters while the third exploded when one American vehicle was running in a village between Karkouk and al-Hweijeh.
Baqouba, however, have been converted into a field of clashes when gunmen attacked the Iraqi police forces and several headquarters of the parties which are preparing to take part in the elections. This, however, resulted in killing one police officer and injuring other 8.
In Tikrit, one Iraqi was killed and two other injured in a booby trapped car explosion before a government building, while gunmen detonated five elections centers in each if al-Khales, al-Dalou'eya and al-Alam quarters.
In Musil a video tape circulated by fighters in the city showed three kidnapped Iraqis saying they are working in the Higher Independent Commission For The Elections.
In al-Haqlaneyah to the west of Ramadi, one Iraqi was killed in a raid by the American helicopters against the industrial quarters of the city. In al-Qaem, the American forces detained Sheikh Suleiman Musleh al-Karbouli, members of the Muslim Scholars Commission in the city. In Abu Ghreib, one Iraqi was killed and two injured following one explosion targeted the American forces.
In Beiji to the north of Baghdad, 11 schools directors abstained from opening their schools to be used as election centers of fears to be blown up by gunmen.
