31 American soldiers killed in a plane crash, clashes in Iraq

Some 38 American soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash and clashes in various parts of Iraq on Wednesday, just four days before the legislative elections.

In the recent attack, the American army said in a statement that one American soldier died today at dawn ( Thursday) because of his wounds in Deyali governorate to the north of Baghdad. At a time when the American forces launched campaigns of breaking in and detentions in the framework of the tightened security measures to eliminate the pace of the attacks, one helicopter for transporting American marines crashed near al-Rutba to the west of Iraq and this resulted in killing 30 marines and one sailor, according to the Pentagon.

Officials in the American army admitted human losses in the accident which took place near the Jordanian borders. The source has not yet disclosed the implications of the plane crash which was on a security missions, according to the American sources. The servicemembers were on "a routine mission in support of the elections," said Army Gen. John Abizaid, commander of U.S. Central Command. He added "We don't know of any enemy action.". "The investigation continues. There will have to be more that comes out of this to learn what happened."

The US army also admitted the killing of other four marines in clashes in al-Anbar governorates to the west of Baghdad which includes Falluja and al-Ramadi.

In Baghdad, four American soldiers were injured and their vehicle was damaged in a booby trapped car explosion that targeted one military vehicle on Baghdad's International Airport. In Sader city in Baghdad, the American forces attacked the al-Rasoul ( prophet) mosque on Tuesday evening and detained 25 persons inside it.
