Turkey develops relations with Syria and Iran
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 1/26/2005

Turkish Foreign Minister, Abdullah Gul, underlined yesterday Turkey's readiness to advance its relations with Syria and Iran.

In an interview with Turkish private TV channel Khabar Turk, Gul said "Ankara's relations with Syria and Iran are in the interest of Turkey politically, economically and strategically as they serve security, stability and peace in the region." Gul pointed out that Ankara couldn't ignore its great economic interests in its relations with Syria and Iran because of the others' reactions.

"Washington knows well that these relations are in the interest of all," Gul said clarifying that friendship with some states in the region should not provoke hostility of the other states.

He pointed out that during its openness efforts with the regional states and developing its relations with them, Turkey will not take into its account sensitivity and considerations of the others.
