Six American soldiers killed in Baghdad

Attacks and explosions continued in the past hours in various parts of Iraq, the last of which was the killing of 11 Iraqi policemen at least in violent clashes with gunmen to the east of Baghdad.
A spokesman for the police said that the clashes erupted when the policemen opened fire at gunmen while circulating publications in al-Rashad quarters warning citizens against the consequences of voting in the legislative elections due to be held by the end of this month.
In another development, sources in the Iraqi police said that gunmen assassinated an Iraqi judge while leaving his house to the east of Baghdad on Tuesday. The sources explained that judge Qeis Hashem al-Shumarri was killed with one of his children in an ambush implanted on the roadside. An Iraqi working in one of the municipality councils to the west of Baghdad was also killed by the bullets of gunmen while he was heading for his workplace.
In another attack three Iraqis were killed working in the Iraqi ministry of communications when gunmen opened fire at them while on their way to work.
Earlier, the American army announced in two separate statements that six of its soldiers were killed, five of them in a traffic accident to the north of Baghdad on Tuesday and the 6th in a bomb explosion in Baghdad.
