Abu Zeid: New Nile water agreement cancels quotas

Nile Basin member states Water Resources ministers will meet on February 5 in Uganda to lay final touches on a new agreement on benefiting from Nile River water.
One of the main characteristics of the new approach is boosting cooperation among member states.
During an inspection visit to Nilometer equipment in the High and Aswan Dams, Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohmoud Abu Zeid said a joint committee was formed of experts from Nile Basin countries that agreed on cancelling quotas system.
It's difficult to define quotas for states whereas 95% of Nile water is not made use of, he added.
