Abul-Gheit :Cooperation with IAEA in full swing
Egypt, Politics, 1/25/2005
Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul -Gheit yesterday said that cooperation between Egypt and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is serious and in full swing.
In press statements, Abul- Gheit said that cooperation between both sides was governed by signed protocols and agreements whereby the IAEA has the right to send fact-finding teams to Egypt and Cairo has the right to send a team to the IAEA for answering any questions by the nuclear watch-dog.
Abul-Gheit was answering a question about the presence of an IAEA team in Egypt and the aim behind this visit.
The Egyptian top diplomat underlined that Egypt was fully cooperating with the IAEA and always clarified the Egyptian stance as to its nuclear activities.
Egypt is flinging its doors open to the IAEA inspectors in accordance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which Egypt joined some 21 year ago.
Egypt's nuclear stance is legal one hundred percent, said Abul -Gheit noting that the IAEA will verify this fact and announce it shortly.
Meanwhile, Head of the Egyptian Atomic Energy Agency (EAEA) Ali Islam denied presence of any inspectors of the International Atomic energy agency (IAEA) in Egypt currently.
