8 killed among pilgrims following flash floods

More than two million Muslims were stranded on pilgrimage in the desert following heavy rains in Mecca and Jeddah which recorded an above average rainfall this season. The floods claimed the lives of eight people, while six other persons went missing, said a Saudi official, who noted that traffic was temporarily suspended in the highway binding Mecca to Medina.
