Iran plays down US Threats
Iran-USA, Politics, 1/24/2005

Senior Iranian officials on Saturday played down US threats of possible future attacks against Iran saying they should not be taken seriously.

Chairman of the National Security Committee and Foreign Relations at the Iranian Shoura Council Alaouldin Brojardi said on Saturday statements of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Iran were hasty and irrational noting that they should not be taken seriously.

In a statement, Borjardi ruled out the US threats would be put into force due to Tehran's policy with the European allied states with the US, and noting the UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw made fun of the threats.

For his part, Member of the Committee in the Iranian Shoura Suleiman Jafar said US Vice President Dick Cheney's statements against Iran were a proof of the US worry over progress that Iran made in the international arenas depicting such statements as "media maneuver."
