American soldier killed in Iraq

In a statement on Friday, the American army announced that one of its soldiers was killed and another was slightly injured in a raid launched against gunmen in al-Dalou'eya area to the north of Baghdad.

The statement explained that the raids were launched on Friday at dawn at 8 positions suspected to be sheltering members working for manufacturing explosives and resulted in killing one of the gunmen and detaining other 22, four of them are suspected, noting that 12 detainees were taken to the bases of the coalition forces while the others were released.

A group of the secret "Islamic army in Iraq" alleged in a statement on its site on the Internet responsibility for killing this American soldier.
