Morocco's Bidouane bows out from Athletics

Former double world 400m hurdles champion, 35-year old Nezha Bidouane, announced on Sunday she retires from athletics after 15 years of competition.

A Former double world 400m hurdles champion, Nezha Bidouane, mother of a boy, made the official announcement in a ceremony held by the Moroccan athletics Federation in honor of 2004 best athletes, coaches and clubs.

She is the Arab and African female athlete to have gleaned most medals and honors. She won the 1997 and 2001 world 400 m hurdles and the silver medal at the 1999 Olympics of Seville.

She also took part in four Olympic games, reached the semi-finals in Barcelona in 1992, captured the Bronze medal in Sydney in 2000, but skipped the 1996 edition because she had to undergo surgery.

Her last tracks appearance was last October when she took part in the Panarab games of Algeria where she bagged three gold medals (400m hurdles, 100m and 4X400m races).
