Syrian - Turkish citizens to exchange feast visits
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 1/18/2005

5600 Syrians from al-Hasaka region in north-eastern Syria are expected to visit Mardin region in south-east Turkey to exchange family visits during the upcoming al-Adha holiday, Syrian sources in Qamihili said on Monday.

Syria and Turkey have recently traded lists of visitors names from each side that include those who would like to visit relatives on the other side of the borders on al-Adha feast scheduled next Thursday.

"Concerned parties in each of Qamishli and Nisibin border cities have taken all procedures to make this human initiative a success since it expresses the depth of ties between the two peoples in Syria and Turkey," the sources said. Syrian-Turkish ties have seen development in recent years particularly after President Bashar al-Assad historical visit to Turkey early last year.
