Patrick Seale says Sharon's moves are tactics
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/15/2005
British journalist Patrick Seale on Friday said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's goals are strategic embodied in the West Bank occupation and the prevention of building the Palestinian state stressing that any other moves by Sharon are just tactics.
In an article published by the London-Based newspaper al-Hayat, Seale said that in Sharon's mind there is no political intent except for the withdrawal from Gaza Strip and some security cooperation with the Palestinian Authority.
He pointed out at Sharon's rejection of holding an international peace conference on the Palestinian-Israeli track and his refusal of any negotiation on the final status of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Seale said that Sharon does not want to hear anything, neither about Jerusalem nor the borders or refugees, and he is talking instead in vague terms over some arrangements on the Palestinian-Israeli coexistence, noting that it is explained as settlements expansion and continuing the seperation wall building as well as segregating Palestinians in their seven main cities, all in hope to make their life difficult as to oblige them to emigrate.
