Follow-up committee for supporting detainees in Israeli jails
Regional-Israel, Politics, 1/15/2005
Secretary General of the Follow-up Committee for Supporting Detainees at Israeli jails Mohammad Safa has called for action on all levels to support the detainees' steadfastness and to set them free.
In a press conference Friday, Safa said Arab prisoners in Israeli jails suffer very hard and inhuman conditions, indicating that they are deprived from their human rights.
For his part, prisoner Samir Qintar appealed to the public opinion, human rights organizations and the Red Cross to interfere to release the detainees who spent along time at Israeli jails, noting that many of them suffer serious diseases.
In a message sent from Hdarym prison in the occupied Palestine and read during the conference, Qintar stressed the detainees' steadfastness despite the great sufferings they are facing in jails.
The committee announced a sit-in on January 28th in solidarity with Qintar and other detainees.
