Aides for Seistani assassinated, seven Iraqis killed in Baghdad

Unidentified gunmen assassinated the representative of the prominent Shiite clergy in Iraq Ayatullah Ali al-Seistani in al-Madayan area to the south of Baghdad.
Al-Seistani office in al-Najaf said that the gunmen attacked Sheikh Mahmoud al-Madeini on Wednesday evening and killed him with his son and four of his guards. Halim al- Afghani, another assistant for al-Seistanu was also found killed.
Sources in al-Seistanu office said that al-Madaeni had earlier received death threats and survived earlier assassination attempt.
Unidentified persons assassinated near Baqouba to the northern east of Baghdad yesterday morning member of the Iraqi communist party Mu'ayad Sami to be thereby the third official in the communist party to be assassinated in less than one month. The killed man occupies the post of a member in the local governing rule in Deyali province.
Meantime, gunmen attacked a hotel in the downtown of Baghdad and kidnapped a Turkish businessman. Iraqi police sources said that the attackers opened fire at a small bus which came to transport him from nearby Bakhan hotel. The sources indicated that the killed persons are the driver of the bus and five Iraqis working with the kidnapped man.
In its attempt to control the deteriorated security conditions before the general conditions set before the end of the month, the multi national forces and the Iraqi forces detained 50 persons suspected to be gunmen participated in joint breaking in operations carried out on Wednesday evening near Karkuk, Tikrit and Baghdad.
