30 detainees interrogated in Kuwait over Houli clashes
Kuwait, Local, 1/13/2005

The Kuwaiti minister of the interior on Wednesday said that the security forces are interrogating 30 persons suspected to be involved in fire exchange incident between the police and gunmen in Houli area.

Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah did not rule out that the criminals are among the suspected persons but he ruled out that the incident was a terrorist plan due to prevailing conditions.

A security source indicated that the number of persons arrested for interrogation might be more than what was declared, especially with the continued acts of breaking in.

The minister refused on Tuesday to relate between the suspected gunmen and al-Qaida organization, noting that he prefers to wait the results of investigations.

The former minister of oil and information Sheikh Saud Naser al-Sabah warned against the existence of "sleeping cells " in the security and military departments in the country.
