Qathafi calls for closing the file of opposition
Libya, Politics, 1/13/2005

The Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi has called on what he called "fleeing opposition members" to return back freely to Libya if they want that.

In a speech before the Libyan parliament which is held in Sert, he called on al-Qathafi Charity Society and the social leaderships to form a neutral committee to follow up the files of all prisoners and the status of persons who fled from Libya in order to close the two files, denying that prisoners of opinions exist in the country.

Al-Qathafi admitted that there were Libyans who were repressed and each and every of their files should be studies separately to know their demands, noting that he does not want scared Libyans obliged to go to what he called "the enemy referring not to a certain state or side." The Libyan leader gave full liberty to those among the opposition to stay outside the country or to return back.

Tripoli made great changes in its foreign police in 2004. It had closed the file of compensations for the Lockerbie incident and stopped its mass destruction weapons program and this resulted in great improvement in its relations with all western countries.

There are many Libyan opposition figures abroad with many of them positioned in the USA.
