Sharm al-Sheikh conference and the Iraqi elections
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 1/12/2005

While American military leaders warned against the escalation of attacks in Iraq with the approaching date of the Iraqi elections, the countries which took part in Sharm al-Sheikh conference on Iraq on November, 2004 called for abiding by the set date of the Iraqi elections by the end of the current month.

This came after a consultation meeting held yesterday in Cairo for countries, and regional and international organizations which took part in Sharm al-Sheikh conference in the presence of the Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zeibari.

The participants in the meeting discussed steps taken by the interim Iraqi government in the political process in order to achieve stability in Iraq. They also discussed current conditions in Iraq and preparations for the general elections.
