Bloody attacks, Allawi promises to increase security forces

Iraq had witnessed a new bloody day that left behind 20 killed Iraqis most of them are members of the Iraqi police. Eight persons were killed and other three were kidnapped in an attack launched by gunmen against a small bus to the south of Baghdad.

Passers by in the area, which is considered one of the most dangerous in Iraq, say that gunmen often stop the cars in search of what they consider collaborators with the interim government and the multinational forces led by Washington.

These developments came after the killing of seven members of the Iraqi police forces and injuring other 8 by a booby trapped car explosion that targeted the police headquarters in the downtown of Tikrit to the North of Baghdad. "Al-Qaida al-Jihad organization in Mesopotamia" led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility for the operation in a statement issued on the Internet.

In Samera, four Iraqi soldiers were killed and other two injured in an ambush implanted by unidentified gunmen yesterday for their vehicle in al-Juberiyah area to the south of the city. Just earlier two members of the Iraqi national guards were killed in another ambush in al-Shuhadaa area to the east of the city.

In Khan Dari area to the west of Baghdad, four Iraqis were killed and other 15 were injured including women and children by the fire of the occupation forces in different accidents in the area. One Iraqi girl was killed by the bullets of the American soldiers during an inspection campaign to the east of Baquba city whose governor Abdullah al-Jabbouri announced resignation from his post.

One booby trapped car went off in one American patrol near al-Ramadi. News reports said that several American soldiers were injured in the attack which resulted in destroying one armored vehicle which was carrying the soldiers.
