Five persons killed in Iraq including one soldiers, the deputy chairman of Baghdad's police

Five persons were killed and others were injured in different attacks by gunmen. Among the killed persons was one American soldier and the deputy chief of the police in Baghdad.

In a statement yesterday, the American army said that one of the American marine was killed in al-Anbar governorate to the west of Iraq to join other seven soldiers from Ukraine and one soldier from Kazakhistan in a bomb explosion while they were dismantling it near al-Sweira base to the south of Baghdad.

A statement by the American army said that the soldier was killed during Sunday's mission while he was in a security mission "to establish settlement in al-Anbar area." The American army gave no further details.

Meantime, unidentified gunmen assassinated in Baghdad the deputy police chief in Baghdad. A police source asked to be anonymous said that gunmen assassinated deputy commander of the Baghdad police outside his house in Baghdad on Monday.

The source explained that Maj. Gen. Amer Nayef was killed by bullets with his brother while they were leaving the house of the family. In the same context three persons were killed in a suicide attack in a booby trapped car at a police center in Baghdad.

A police source said that a suicidor driving a car detonated himself at the police center in the south of Baghdad on Monday and this resulted in killing at least three persons and injuring others.

He added that the explosion took place in al-Zafaraneyah area.
