Following warning from the Kuwaiti embassy, two security men killed by gunmen
Kuwait, Local, 1/11/2005
A security source said that two Kuwaiti security men were killed and two others injured in a clash with gunmen in one of the suburbs of the Kuwaiti capital.
The Kuwaiti TV said quoting a security source it did not identify that the attack took place in a building in Houli area to the north of the capital. The building included senior officials in the state security department.
This attack came as the Kuwaiti authorities are taking strong security measures at crossroads and in front of western hotels and embassies and oil firms after the warning arrived.
The clash came a short time after the American embassy in Kuwait published a message on its electronic web in which it warned against a nearby attack targeting the western citizens in Kuwait after receiving what it called "authentic information." The message of the American embassy said that persons riding a black car are roving the state of Kuwait and "are intending to launch indiscriminate attacks against westerners."
The American embassy in Kuwait addressed a similar warning in the mid of December 2004 in which it said it had "confidential information" that what it called terrorist groups "are preparing to launch attacks." Last week Kuwait raised the state of alert among its forces to the maximum display of force since the American invasion of Iraq in march 2003.
