Saudi security killed four gunmen in Riyadh
Saudi Arabia, Local, 1/10/2005

The Saudi Arabian security forces killed four gunmen in clashes between the two sides in a desert area to the north west of the capital Riyadh.

A Saudi security source said that several security men were injured in the clashes, noting that the killed men were wanted by the security men but did not say if they were on the list of the 26 most wanted men issued by the Saudi authorities in December 2003, suspected to be linked to al-Qaida organization or not.

Meantime, witnesses said that the police opened fire at a car which refused to stop at an inspection checkpoint in Kharaj area to the south west of Riyadh.

Al-Arabia TV said that the police found the car, away from the checkpoint and was found out it is stolen but its occupants fled walking. It is not known whether there is a link between the two incidents.

This clash came after more than two months from blowing up two booby trapped cars targeting the Saudi ministry of the interior and the headquarters of the emergency forces in Riyadh.

Aftermath, the Saudi authorities announced that the main wanted persons in the Kingdom, called Abdullah Saud al-Sbei' was killed during the explosions, and also announced the killing of other ten gunmen in later clashes and confrontations.

Since May 2003, the Kingdom has been exposed to several attacks that resulted in killing some 170 persons including westerners.
