Syrian prominent intellectual eulogized

Syrian great intellectual Antoine Maqdisi was paid the last honor Friday at John the Damascene church in Damascus.

Maqdisi, about 90 year-old who passed away Thursday, was one of the national figures in Syria and a philosophy professor at Damascus University besides his being the director of the Authorship and Translation in the Ministry of Culture.

He composed many books in many fields like philosophy, sociology, policy and translation that enriched the Arab Library.

The funeral was attended by Minister of Culture Mahmoud al-Sayed and Head of Journalist Federation Saber Falhout and a crowd of Arab and Syrian authors, journalists and intellectuals.
