Some 46 Somalis killed in tribal fighting

At least 17 Somalis were killed and 29 injured in tribal fighting that erupted on Thursday in the downtown of Somalia, despite the declared cease fire agreement.

Eye witnesses were quoted saying that armed elements from Suleimani tribes are preparing for a new round of confrontations, while thousands of persons had left their houses in Handawoo area in search of more secure areas.

The witnesses expected that more people will be killed or wounded during the fighting which might erupt at a large scale and stretch to other tribal area because of the fierce conflict over the areas of influence in the absence of the authority of a central government.

Worthy mentioning that Somalia suffers total disorder following the collapse of the central authority in Mogadishu in 1991 after the collapse of Muhammad Seyad Berri regime.

Though the new Somali government had taken its constitutional oath, yet it still performs its duty from outside the country since its formation in Kenya in the mid of October 2004, because of the continued escalation of the acts of violence and tribal confrontations.
