Abul-Gheit receives Rabbi Douglas E.krantz
Egypt-USA, Politics, 1/4/2005
Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul-Gheit received yesterday Rabbi Douglas E.Krantz, board member of the Americans for peace now.
Rabbi Krantz told reporters afterwards that he believed there were positive signs of a breakthrough in the Middle East peace settlement efforts.
He said that defusing tension in the Middle East was a key to realizing regional stability.
Speaking to reporters, Abul-Gheit said that the opportunity was still open for the peace talks to get kick started.
This open opportunity must not be wasted and conditions must be allowed to ease off so as to allow all parties to the conflict to return to the negotiating table, he said noting that the best way the international community could do is help the Middle East seize the present opportunity for peace. A Palestinian peace settlement would bring about stability to the area and assuage the feelings of tension and anger that are gripping the Arab and Islamic worlds, he said.
