Syrian minister of interior holds talks with Iraqi peer in Tunis
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 1/4/2005

Syria's Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Ghazi Kanaan discussed yesterday with his Iraqi counterpart Falah al-Naqib the latest development on the Iraqi arena and the tangible efforts which Syria is exerting to control the borders.

"Syria is interested in Iraq's unity, security and stability," the Minister told the Iraqi official.

The Iraqi Minister described as "irresponsible and baseless'' charges which have been launched by leader of Najaf police against Syria.

Earlier, Kanaan and an accompanying delegation arrived in Tunis on Sunday evening to take part in meetings of the 22nd session of Arab Interior Ministers Council from 4-6.

The Arab ministers will discuss during their meetings the Arab strategy of security, traffic safety, borders security, combating the illegal use of drugs and terrorism.
