Kuwait minister of information resigns one day before his interrogation
Kuwait, Politics, 1/3/2005
Kuwait minister of information Muhammad Abu al-Hassan gave his resignation from his post, one day before his questioning by the parliament over issuing licenses to hold musical evening which certain parliamentarians considered a violation to the traditions of the Kuwaiti society.
The Kuwaiti official news agency KUNA said that the minister gave his resignation to the prime minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad. The agency gave no details on the reasons behind the resignation.
On December 20, 2004, three Islamic parliamentarians appealed for interrogating the minister over issuing licenses to hold musical evenings in Kuwait and permitting several singers to hold entertainment evening on the occasion of Eid- al-Fiter.
Several Islamic parliamentarians in the parliament considered that a sign of non-respect to social tradition in the Kuwaiti society.
