37 members of the Iraqi national guards, one soldier were killed in north Baghdad

Outcome of the attacks that targeted the Iraqi national guards forces reached 37 killed including 26 members of the national guards and one official in Baghdad and Salah Eddin situated to the north of Baghdad on Sunday.

News reports quoted sources in the Iraqi civil defense as saying that 25 members of the national guards were killed in Balad to the north of Baghdad in a booby trapped car explosion near a bus taking them near Balad tow yesterday.

A spokesman for the American army said that other six members of the Iraqi national guards were injured in the explosion which took place on Sunday morning.

The American army announced yesterday that one soldier was killed on Saturday in a bomb explosion to the north of Baghdad, disclosing not the site of the explosion.

Unidentified gunmen killed Karim Ismael Hashem, a senior official in the Iraqi police working for the Iraqi ministry of the Interior, to the southern west of the capital Baghdad. This was within the series of attacks that targeted the Iraqi security forces.

In another attack, two members of the national guards were killed when gunmen attacked an inspection checkpoint in Ltefeh town to the south of Baghdad.

In a later development, one sniper assassinated the Lebanese Nabil Mahmoud inside the Green Zone in Baghdad on Saturday. The assassinated man was working for a Kuwaiti company. Another Lebanese was injured also in the Green Zone but it was not clear whether it was within the same attack or not.

On the other hand, the Iraqi police found two bodies in al-Khadra quarters to the west of Baghdad. One official in the Iraqi ministry of the Interior said that one of the two men is called Muhammad Abul Mutallib, an Iraqi working with the multinational forces, while no documents were available for the second killed man.
