US army launches a new attack to the south of Baghdad

The US army started a new attack against areas to the south of Baghdad. It is the third of its kind since months where one armed man was killed and other nine detained.
The area which is situated between 20 to 50 Km to the south of Baghdad includes the cities of Al-Ikandareyah, al-Mahmodeyah, al-letfeh and al-Yousefeyah. These cities which are considered a headquarters for gunmen witnessed large scale military operations since October 2004.
To the northern east of Falluja, one soldier of the Iraqi national guard was found killed by bullets with a notification on his body warning others from dealing with the American forces.
In Musil to the north of Baghdad, one gunman was killed and other 15 were detained during clashes with the American forces and breaking in operations carried out by these forces to the west of the city. In the same area, the body of one woman veterinary doctor was found. She is a member in Ninwa governorate council kidnapped on December 14.
Seven Iraqis were killed -- including five members of the Iraqi national guards -- in a booby trapped car explosion in al-Seneyah town to the west of Beji to the north of Baghdad.
In another development, the commander of the police forces in Karkouk said that the American forces in collaboration with the Iraqi police arrested one senior officer in the former Iraqi regime intelligence who is col. Khalaf Muhammad Eid in one of the southern quarters of Karkouk to the north east of Baghdad.
The American forces also announced that it was able in collaboration with the Iraqi security forces to arrest 49 suspects in al-Daloeya area to the north of Baghdad.
In the downtown of Baghdad, strong explosion was heard for shelling and machine guns on Friday near Haifa street.
In Basra, three boys were injured in a bomb explosion in the downtown of the city. Three mortars fell on one car exhibition in the same area.
Simultaneously, naval forces said that Iraq's exports of Karkouk crude oil via the northern oil pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan are still cut after two weeks of attacks targeted it.
