Moroccan human rights organizations in Europe welcome results of meetings with authorities
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 12/31/2004
The "Al Haqiqa" group, comprising Europe-based Moroccan human rights organizations welcomed the outcome of the meeting held on Tuesday with officials from the interior ministry and justice minister, Mohamed Bouzoubaa.
The group welcomes, in a communique sent to MAP-Paris, " with satisfaction the positive results" of its contacts with officials of the two ministries.
The group reports that the justice minister has listened carefully to their grievances and promised to give clear instructions to public prosecutors nationwide to suppress at check points the wanted notice against all the former exiled and political detainees who got a royal pardon in 1994. He also vowed to deliver them an official amnesty document that would restore their rights.
In the ministry of the interior, the associations were reassured that all measures will be taken to end the administrative harassment at check points and that practical measures will be set in place shortly.
