Collective resignation of elections employees; more acts of detentions in Iraq

News reports in Iraq said that all employees of the independent higher commission of the elections in Musil, numbering 700, gave their resignation. They justified that to the threats they had received during the few past days and the withdrawal of the Iraqi Islamic party from launching the elections which are decided on January 30, 2005.
In the same context, three armed groups which are al-Sunni supporters army, the Islamic army in Iraq and al-Mujahideen army threatened to attack the Iraqi voters of they take part in these elections.
Meantime, the Interim Iraqi government said that the multinational forces detained several days ago Fadel Hussein Ahmad al-Kurdi who is presumed to be one of the aides of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in North Baghdad, noting that two others of persons suspected to be involved in armed acts in Iraq were also detained in the operation.
On the other hand, Fadel al-Shara, one of the officials of the political commission in al-Sader martyr office said that the office will file complaint against the Interim Iraqi government over the detention of 15 persons by Babel governorate in the city and the death of 5 of them under torture. Sheikh Khalil al-Maliki, one of the leading figures in al-Sader Martyr office in al-Basra escaped the assassination attempt.
