Secretary General of the OIC and the occupation of Jerusalem
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 12/30/2004

Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC Akmal al-Din Ihsan Oglo has underlined that occupied Jerusalem is a substantial issue to the OIC, asserting that peace is impossible without establishing the Palestinian independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

In an interview published by Saudi newspaper Okaz, Oglo said "Jerusalem is inseparable part of the occupied Palestinian lands," pointing out that this issue will be on top of the agendas of forthcoming ministerial conferences.

He asserted the organization's support to the Palestinian people, referring that a delegation from his organization will take part in the Palestinian elections as an observer as an expression of support to the Palestinian people during this critical stage.

Regarding the Iraqi question, Oglo underscored the Organization's keenness on Iraq's territorial integrity and care for realizing security and stability in the country.
