Minister of Information confers with Italian official

Secretary General of the Italian Communists Party Oliviero Diliberto on Wednesday stressed the importance of achieving peace in the Middle East to boost stability and prosperity in the region.

In a meeting with Syrian Minister of Information Mahdi Dakhlullah, Diliberto underlined Italy's appreciation of Syria's call for peace, asserting that Syria's stance refers to a real desire for evading the region wars.

"The U.S. unconditioned support to Israel represents a real danger threatening the Middle East since it increases Tel Aviv's intransigence and rejection of peace and its requirements," he added.

Diliberto also hailed party cooperation between Syria and the Italian Communists Party, expressing desire for developing it.

Both sides discussed the situation in the region and bilateral relations.

For his part, Dakhlullah talked about the underway development process in Syria and the role of media in boosting this process through showing the real image of developments in Syria and the region as a whole.
