A trap for the Iraqi police

Commenting on Baghdad's explosions which took place on Tuesday evening which resulted in killing 30 persons and injuring other 25, a high ranking official in the Iraqi police said that this operation was "a trap" implanted for the Iraqi policemen with the aim of inflecting utmost losses in their line.

The security official added that the "person was who was shooting indiscriminately from that house on Tuesday evening, according to people of the area, aimed at attracting large number of the police men to the house with the aim to blow it up over them.

Among the victims of the said explosion are large number of policemen and several civilians. Work continues to take out bodies from under the remains.

However, in a statement, the American army announced that an amount of explosives estimated at 850 to 900 Kg estimated to have been used in the said explosion.

In another field development, two persons were killed and a third was injured when an explosive went off they had tried to implant under a oil pipeline to the west of Karkouk, 255 Km to the northern east of Baghdad. In the downtown of Samera, 100 Km to the north of Baghdad, gunmen clashed with the American and Iraqi forces.
