Four security men injured in Saudi Arabia, seven gunmen killed having links to Riyadh explosion
Saudi Arabia, Local, 12/30/2004

The Saudi security forces killed seven gunmen in Riyadh city suspected to be involved in the explosions which targeted the Ministry Of Interior and a headquarters for the special forces in Riyadh.

One Saudi security source said the security forces broke into a house yesterday, where the gunmen resorted, and killed 7 of them, in an operation which also resulted in serious injuries for 4 security men.

The operation came a short time after an attack by two booby trapped cars against the Ministry Of Interior and a headquarters for the special security forces.

The first explosion took place near a complex for the Saudi Ministry Of Interior after a car loaded with explosions failed to cross the security check point. A second exploded car also tried to enter the headquarters of the special forces but the security men opened fire at it and this resulted immediately in blowing it. The security forces said the two explosions were followed by fire.

In this context, a spokesman for the Saudi ministry of the interior said that several persons including two policemen were injured in the explosion which targeted a camp for the special security forces.

On Wednesday, the Saudi security forces announced the killing of two gunmen in Riyadh in a fire exchange with the security forces on Tuesday in addition to arresting a third gunman in Jeddah.
