Two Israelis injured near Toulkarem
Palestine-Israel, Military, 12/30/2004
News reports in Palestine said that one Israeli settler and one soldier were injured yesterday morning in Baqet al-Sharqia area, near Toulkarem to the north of the West Bank.
The reports said that one armed man opened fire at an Israeli military vehicle and injured the soldier and the settler and that the two men are in critical health conditions.
For its part, the Israeli radio said that the two Israelis were in one of the military vehicles which was escorting a procession of settlers steaming from the settlements to the north of the West Bank to the areas inside the green line when they were hit.
This incident came after Palestinian sources expected that the settlers were behind launching shelling against Khan Younis city in Gaza which resulted in injuring some 13 Palestinians, one of them is in a critical health condition.
Palestinian sources expected that the Israeli aggression to be a reaction by the settlers against having Nafe Dekalim settlement targeted by mortars. The settlers had threatened to retaliate should their settlements get bombarded.
Earlier, two activists from Ezz Eddine al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Hamas movement, survived a raid carried out by one Israeli reconnaissance plane against a car they were riding in Khan Younis. Security sources and witnesses said that the two Palestinians fled during the raid.
