Palestinian factions and the 'right of return' home
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 12/29/2004
The Palestinian factions stressed adherence to the option of resistance and Intifada to force out the Israeli occupation and establish the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the factions underlined commitment to the Palestinian refugees' "right of return" home, calling for boosting national unity.
For his part, Mahmoud al-Zahar, one of Hamas leaders asserted in an interview published by Egyptian newspaper al-Ahram that his movement will never abandon the option of resistance, pointing out that settlement projects raised currently on the Palestinian arena won't give the Palestinian people their rights.
Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa stressed that the real desire for establishing a Palestinian state means Israel's withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian lands, including Jerusalem and stopping to build the settlements.
In an interview published by al-Ahram newspaper, Moussa called upon the UN, U.S., Russia and the EU to hold a meeting following the Palestinian elections to boost the Palestinian economy and determine the track for establishing a Palestinian independent state.
