Continued killing, attacks in Iraq
Iraq, Military, 12/29/2004

Al-Zarqawi's statement on the Internet on Tuesday claimed responsibility for another attack targeted the commander of the national guards in Baghdad Col. Fahd al- Namrawi while another statement issued by the group claimed responsibility for an attack by a fuel tank near the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad. The result was nine persons killed and scores wounded.

Al-Zarqawi targeting of al-Hakim who is on the top of a Shiite list expected to win the election, came two days after a voice tape in which the leader of al-Qaida organization Osama Bin Laden held every and each one taking part in the Iraqi elections as "non- believer." In this audio tape, Bin laden also appointed al-Zarqawi as a prince ( Amir ) for Mesopotamia.

However, several Iraqi areas on Tuesday witnessed a bloody day in which 59 persons were killed most of them were members of the national guards -- including 8 civilians -- in a booby trapped car explosion in the industrial area to the south of Baqouba. The incident took place when a vehicle for the national guard headed to support three of their colleagues who were attacked in the same area.

On the other hand, the Iraqi police announced it found the body of the deputy governor of al-Anbar Mu'ayad Marwan al-Attawi just a short time after his kidnapping at the hands of unidentified kidnappers.
