Failed attempt to assassinate activists from al-Qassam, 13 Palestinian injured in Khan Younis
Palestine-Israel, Military, 12/29/2004

Some 13 Palestinians were injured, one of them is in a critical health condition as several shelling fell on Khan Younis in Gaza presumed to be fired from the Israeli settlements to the west of the city.

Palestinian sources expected the Israeli aggression to be a retaliation by the Israeli settlers against targeting Nefe de Kalim settlement by mortars. The Israeli settlers had threatened of retaliating if their settlements are bombarded.

Two activists from al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Hamas movement, survived one raid launched by one Israeli reconnaissance plane against their car in Khan Younis. Security sources and eye witnesses said that the Palestinians were able to flee the raid.

Israeli security sources said the two activists are responsible for firing mortars at Israeli targets.
