Oil leakage in al-Ahmadi, Kuwait controlled
Kuwait, Economics, 12/27/2004

The Kuwaiti national oil company said that an oil leakage took place during preparations for the shipment operation of the first ship of a crude oil transport at al-Ahmadi refinery.

The company's public relations director Muhammad al-Hajiri said that some 200 barrels of crude oil leaked through a hole in a pipeline leading to the southern oil pouring location in the port.

Al-Hajiri said that the maintenance teams started immediately to work for patching the hole to prevent the spread of the leakage to the water of the Gulf.

However, the three Kuwaiti crude oil refineries which produce 920,000 barrels of crude oil stopped for a while from work in November as electricity grid was cut off in most areas of the country.

Refineries also stopped in January following a fire in electricity generator in an electricity generation station in al-Shueibah to the south of al-Kuwait city.
