Erdogan ends visit to Syria: we will work to double trade

The Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan concluded a two day visit to Syria yesterday by visiting the religious and archeological sites in Damascus and Aleppo.
Erdogan said that the "Syrian- Turkish free trade agreement is considered the base for economic cooperation between the two countries." He added that Turkey "will work to double trade exchange to contribute to developing standing relations with Syria."
Erdogan also visited the traditional handicraft shops in al-Tkeyah al-Suleimaneyah which was built by the Ottoman Sultan in 1554. His visit also covered the grand Ummayad's mosque where he visited the tomb of Salah Eddine al-Ayoubi and performed prayers as a tribute to the mosque. He also visited the tombs of the Turks victims of the first world war adjoining the mosque and laid wreaths on them.
Erdogan also visited The Qassyoun mount which overlooks Damascus and laid a wreath on the tomb of unknown soldiers before he had headed to Aleppo where he had visited the castles of al-Shouna Khan and the old markets and then he returned back to Ankara concluded his visit to Syria.
