Israel release Abu Zeid
Syria-Israel, Politics, 12/22/2004
The medical committee at Rambam hospital in Haifa yesterday decided to release Syrian prisoner Hayel Abu Zeid from the occupied Syrian Golan heights, as part of the decision taken by the Israeli court on Monday, last week, in which it made it obligatory for the Israeli jails not to bring back Abu Zeid to prison.
Worthy mentioning that doctors diagnosed Abu Zeid illness as having Leukemia and he has been since a while in Rambram hospital for medical treatment.
Because of this situation, the court decided not to bring Abu Zeid back to prison as necessary medical instruments are not available for his treatment.
The Israeli authorities detained Abu Zeid in 1985. He was convicted by the Israeli court of being a member of a resistance organization and in blowing up a store for ammunition sold for the Israeli army and of implanting mines. The court sentenced Abu Zeid to 27 years in prison.
