Turkish statement on Erdogan's visit to Syrian

Turkey's Ambassador to Syria, Khaled Cevik, on Tuesday, stressed that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Syria tomorrow will constitute another turning point in the relations between the two countries following President Bashar al-Assad's visit to Ankara early this year.
In a statement to reporters on the eve of Erdogan's visit to Syria, Cevik underlined that the relations between the two countries are witnessing remarkable development, and both countries are focusing on developing the possibilities of the standing cooperation in all fields.
He added that the exchange of visits by the officials of both countries on all the political, economic, technical, parliamentary and partisan levels, reflect the deep relations between the two countries.
He went on to say that a number of important agreements were singed between the two countries such as the Investment Reciprocal Encouragement Agreement, Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement and other numerous agreements in health and land, sea and air transport.
He pointed out to the facilities given by Syria to the Turkish businessmen and the simple procedures for getting visas to Syria, and the opening of a Syrian General Consulate in the Turkish southern border city of Ghazi Enteb.
He said that the Turkish airlines are moving toward increasing the number of air trips to Syria and this also applies to the sea trips between the two ports of Lattakia and Mersin.
He added that Damascus and Aleppo Universities have opened Turkish Language Teaching Centers.
The Turkish ambassador concluded by expressing hope that the development of relations between the two countries would continue in the interest of the two peoples who share historical and cultural values.
